How to Improve User Experience in Shopify with Upright Videos

Hello everyone,

we are currently trying to use upright videos as product videos. One issue bothers us negatively: If you click on play, the video is always displayed very small on standard smartphones. You then have to click on full screen. In total, the user needs three clicks until he gets the desired result.

Our wish would be: 1x click on play and the video starts.

So that you can recreate the whole thing, I have one here Test product created, open this product once on your smartphone and go through the following steps:

1. swipe to the last video in the product Don’t buy product. (The video with the bees and flowers)
   
2. Click on Play 
   
3. The Video opensbut very small and on the right and left is a black area.
   
4. Now click on the Full screen modeonly now does the picture open as you would have expected at the beginning.

I hope you can understand the whole thing. We want to achieve a better user experience in the Shopify shop. The fact that a user now has to click three times before he can see the video is no longer up to date. Most website visitors use their smartphones to surf the web, so an upright video is also a priority on our website.

You can also see a video of Unge with the test product. This is a YouTube video that was linked. Here you can see the behavior completely differently, already in the preview it is displayed as landscape format video. The worst thing, however, is that the YouTube player doesn’t give us the option to display it in full format when playing it.

So uploading videos directly to Shopify is a better option, but still unsatisfactory for the reasons mentioned above.

I would appreciate if someone can show me how he or she solved it in your shop. Possibly. This could also be taken up by the Shopify staff as a suggestion for improvement.
