The Mandatory Personal Accident Insurance (SOAP) is a policy that, as its name indicates, is an obligation for all motor vehicle drivers in Chile. This policy must be contracted every year and the term this 2023 is until March 31.
This year the contracting of your SOAP can include a donation to Bomberos de Chilewho have been working hard to combat the forest fires that are occurring in the south-central zone of our country.
The SOAP can be purchased on the site www.soapbomberos.clwith the following prices:
vehicle type | SOAP annual press release |

vans | $7.290 |
motorcycles | $35.490 |
Minibuses | $17.990 |
tow cars | $3.400 |
When contracting the SOAP with Firefighters you have the option of donating from $1,000 and also being able to choose larger amounts if you wish.when choosing the option “extraordinary contributions”.
It is important to remember that this insurance is required by the Traffic Law. This is why SOAP must be hired before March 31, 2023If this is not the case, you will not be able to renew the registration certificate. For the procedure, you will also need to have your technical review up to date (you can reserve an hour at the technical review plants) and not have pending fines.
What does and does not cover SOAP 2023?
The SOAP 2023 coverage amounts correspond to:
- Death (300 UF)
- Total permanent disability (300 UF)
- Partial permanent disability (up to 200 UF)
- Medical and hospital expenses (up to 300 UF)
It is crucial to mention that SOAP 2023 coverage cannot be applied in the following cases:
- Traffic accidents caused in automobile races and other motor vehicle competitions.
