As the name suggests, the 49-euro ticket normally costs 49 euros. You can also buy the Germany ticket cheaper in the HVV – here’s how.
Hamburg – After long negotiations, it is finally a done deal: On January 27, 2023, the federal and state governments agreed on the Germany ticket, which will be valid from May 1, 2023. The 49-euro ticket as the successor to the 9-euro ticket, which had also marked a success story at the HVV, is to come. To what extent could the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund build on past successes? The Deutschlandticket is in the starting blocks – and from May it could make local transport connections in Hamburg even cheaper than most travelers would think.

Germany ticket for 34.30 euros: Employed people can travel cheaper in the HVV
The nationwide price of the Germany ticket could trigger mixed feelings. For some it is a reasonable investment due to regular travel, which is already worthwhile in the HVV – for others the price is simply not affordable. Nationwide, the Deutschlandticket costs exactly 49 euros per cent. A fundamentally uniform price is not necessarily given. This is shown by an offer from the HVV: For a few working people, there is the possibility of getting a ticket for as little as 34.30 euros.
The background is the so-called “ProfiTicket”, a HVV offer that transports employees wherever possible across Hamburg and the surrounding area. The cost of the ticket varies – and depends on one key factor. Only this makes access to the “ProfiTicket” possible at all: The employer’s company must have taken out a subscription to the transport association and pay the corresponding subsidies.

“Real success factor”: According to the transport senator, the HVV offer could make the 49-euro ticket “more attractive”.
If you now have such a “ProfiTicket”, a discount applies, which can reduce the price of the Germany ticket in the HVV to a total of 34.30 euros. Opposite of Hamburger Abendblatt Anjes Tjarks, Hamburg’s Transport Senator (Greens), already describes the offer as a “real success factor”. It goes on to say: “The combination with the Deutschlandticket will make it even more attractive in the future.”
Particularly attractive: the previous guideline, according to which companies had to employ at least 20 people in order to be able to apply for the “ProfiTicket”, is no longer valid. As the evening paper reports that companies with just one employee can make their employees the owner of the HVV “ProfiTicket” – and thus have them travel through the country at a reduced price.
