Techno.id – Maybe many of you have experienced when you want to take photos or videos using an Android smartphone, but the camera feature cannot be used or is stuck. Many factors cause smartphone cameras to not work.
Insufficient storage space is the most common cause of camera app problems. When your device starts to run out of space, apps like the camera that add more files to the already occupied space may start to malfunction.
Additionally, if your device runs out of memory (RAM), the phone may not be able to open the camera application. Third-party applications, especially those that use camera functions, can cause the camera to fail or freeze. It could be that the application crashes with the default camera application. It could also be because camera permission was refused. Because, the camera feature must be allowed for the application to work properly.
Corrupted cache and app data are also known to slow down camera performance and even cause crashes. Software issues, bugs, and an outdated Android OS can put the camera app at risk of failing.
If your battery is really low, the camera app may not function optimally and refuse to open. Additionally, hardware damage from drops and heavy impacts can cause the camera to malfunction or leave a blank screen.
How to fix camera not working on Android smartphone
There are several solutions that you can try to solve the problem of a camera that is stuck or not working. Here are the steps.
1. Restart the camera

If the camera app displays a blank screen when you try to use it, you may need to restart the app. The method is quite simple. Just open Recent Apps and swipe the Camera app off the screen. Wait a few seconds before reopening the Camera app.
You can also restart the Camera app by force stopping the app in Settings. Start by opening the Settings app, then go to Applications.
Look for the Camera app in the list of apps. Tap the Force Stop or Force Close button (usually at the bottom of the screen). Now, when you open the camera, hopefully it will work smoothly without crashing.
2. Restart the phone

If restarting the camera app doesn’t solve the problem, you’ll need to restart your phone. Restarting will eliminate bugs and glitches and reset ongoing processes.
To restart your Android phone, simply press and hold the power button until you see a list of options on the phone screen. The appearance may differ depending on the Android device, but the options will be consistent.
Tap Restart, the phone will turn off and then turn on after a few seconds. The camera should start working fine now.
3. Allow the camera app

Permission for camera features may be accidentally denied for the camera app. To allow the camera app, open the app list and press and hold the camera icon until a menu appears. Tap App Info or the icon that has the letter i in a circle.
On the App Info page that opens, go to the Permissions section. Make sure that Camera is allowed for the Camera app. The permission must be on the list of allowed features.
4. Close all applications that use the camera

Snapchat, Instagram, other third-party camera apps, and editing apps have access to your phone’s camera. Opening the camera in one of these apps in the background while trying to use the default camera app may cause it to crash.
The way to overcome this is quite easy. Open Recent Apps on your phone and swipe through all the apps that use the camera. Now, open the default camera app, it should work fine.
5. Delete camera application data

When an app is not working, clearing the app data will reset the app and will most likely get rid of the bug behind the problem. To restart the camera app, open the Settings app and tap Apps.
Select the camera app in the app list, then tap Storage. This will open a page showing how much storage space the camera is using. Tap the Clear Data button. This will clear the app data and cache and give the camera app a fresh start.
