While Nintendo changed the way Technical Machines(TM) work in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the basic cycle for acquiring them remains the same. Usually, players will have to walk around the map to find a certain TM that can turn a good Pokemon into a great one. As in previous games, once players use a TM, it will disappear from their bag. However, on Scarlet and Violet, players can do the same TM if they have enough necessary materials. A popular TM that players will chase in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is Surf, one of Paldea’s strongest Water-type moves.

Surf is one of the oldest moves of all Pokémon, introduced as a Hidden Machine in Generation I. Nintendo has done away with the HM system in recent years, but the moves that were on the HM list have remained. This includes Surf, which is a 95 power, 100 accuracy Sp. Water-type attack. It’s always a powerful move for Water-type Pokemon, as it has 15 power and can be learned by a wide variety of Pokemon.
To find Surf TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players will need to look near water. Or, in him, to be more precise.
Finding the Surf TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
To find Surf, you’ll need to go to Porto Marinada; the city is located in Western Province (Area Two), right on the coast, west of Cascarrafa and the Asado Desert. Players will most likely travel to Porto Marinada after attempting to fight the Cascarrafa Gym. The Gym Leader will not be present and the players will have to go to the port to deliver the lost wallet to him.
Once players are in Porto Marinada, they must pass the Auction House, which is the well-lit pavilion in the center of the city. Switch to get to the ocean, which is parallel to a boardwalk. Along this walkway will be a few different boats sitting in the ocean. In one of these cans, you’ll see a yellow Poké Ball, which means it contains a TM. This TM is Surf. Use your Koraidon or Miraidon to jump into the boat and secure the TM. You can then find the TM inside your bag and teach it to all your Pokémon who can learn it.

It should be noted that there are several locations to find the Surf TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. You can also find a copy of the TM in Levincia (near some barrels in the south part of the city) and on an island in the southern Mar Paldeo.
