What is a SIPO?

A SIPO is essentially a simple payment instrument that can bundle all of your regular payments, such as paying your water, gas, rent, phone, insurance, or radio and television bills. In practice, this will make your work easier and you won’t have to think about all the invoices individually, but settle everything through a single amount.

SIPO was very progressive in its time and has made many people’s jobs and worries easier. Nowadays it is possible to replace the entire SIPO with a series of standing orders and direct debits set up on a checking account. Then you don’t even have to go anywhere and most banks offer these services for free.

How to set up a SIPO?

Setting up a LPIS is perhaps easier than you think, because you just need to go to a Czech Post branch together with your identity document, such as your identity card. There they will open your SIPO while you wait and generate a so-called “connection number”. You will then pass this connection number on to your service providers, who will send you all bills to this number. The last thing you need to understand is how you will pay your SIPO. Here it is offered directly at a Czech Post branch, via a one-time order or direct debit from your bank account.

How to cancel the SIPO fee?

Together with SIPEM, you will also receive a fee for organizing this service. According to official data, up to 80% of people using SIPO have a postal service. You will pay CZK 25 for this small piece of paper in your mailbox. Sure, this isn’t a huge amount, but if you add it up over several consecutive years, it’s already a larger amount that you’re paying completely for nothing.

If you want to pay only 10 CZK instead of 25 CZK, take your latest SIPO document, your connection number and your ID and go to any branch of the Czech Post. Then fill out a short form here and from next month SIPO will be sent to your email, and in this way you will also save a lot

How to cancel a SIPO?

While a SIPO appears to make your payments easier, there is another side to the coin. If you want to delete even one item, you can’t do it alone. You must contact the business whose service you wish to cancel with a cancellation request. It usually has to go through an administrative process in a particular company, the result of which is the cancellation of an item. But it definitely doesn’t happen from month to month.

If you’ve decided that a SIPO is disadvantageous to you and want to cancel it altogether, that’s also a bit of a pain. You must write a written statement which must contain the following:

  • your first and last name
  • your address
  • date and place of birth
  • your connection number
  • cancellation text – here you must explicitly write that you are canceling the SIPO service and indicate the reason for cancellation
  • today’s date and your signature.

Unfortunately, you can’t just go to a Czech post office with this, but have to send it to the address Česká pošta, sp, département. SIPO, Wolkerova 480, 749 20, Vítkov. At the same time, the SIPO must be empty and there were no items, so you need to personally agree with all the companies whose services appear on the SIPU to change the payment method. Only then can Česká pošta welcome you and cancel the SIPO service.

According to current regulations, the notice period is one month, but it is calculated starting from the calendar month following the occurrence of all conditions.

Is the owner of SIPO dead?

It is very complicated to cancel a SIPO account that belonged to a deceased grandmother, grandfather or other family member. If the survivors keep paying, that’s fine, but if they want to reverse their payments, there’s a problem. In this case, you need to bring your identity card and proof of the right to dispose of the inheritance, for example, a death certificate, and go to the administration of the SIPO, where they will tell the survivor how to proceed and what payments are performed at the SIPO.
