Creating a new line while typing a message on the app WhatsApp have slight differences with other applications or programs.
To create a new line in WhatsApp, you must first make its settings in the WhatsApp settings menu.
On WhatsApp, pressing the enter key means a command to send messages, both on mobile phones and on WhatsApp web. By default WhatsApp is indeed set up that way.
However, users can change the application’s default settings. WhatsApp provides an option to turn off enter to send messages.

- Open the WhatsApp application
- Tap the three vertical dots icon in the top right corner
- Then select the Chat option
- Then turn off the check mark in the “Enter is Send” column
After turning it off, the enter key function will create a new line, while to send a message you just have to tap on the paper airplane icon located to the right of the message field.
Meanwhile, the enter method on WhatsApp web to create a new line is to first press and hold the “Shift” key and then tap the “Enter” key.
Thus enter will give the command to create a new line below it without making the message sent.
