Instagram is updating its iOS app with an interesting novelty that will save you having to scroll to the web version.
Due to the new policy of Apple, Instagram is forced to integrate in the app the option to delete or deactivate the account. An option that is already available with the latest update.
Instagram on iOS adds the option to delete the account
If you have ever wanted to delete your Instagram account, you will have found that this option does not exist in the mobile app. And while the option to deactivate an Instagram account is available, doing so does not delete our data from their servers.
So the only way to carry out the process of permanently deleting our account is to use the web version of Instagram. A problem that already has a solution for iOS users.
Apple is implementing a new policy for all apps published on App Storeforcing them to meet this requirement:
Beginning June 30, 2022, apps submitted to the App Store that support account creation must also allow users to initiate account deletion within the app
So Instagram had to add the option to “delete or deactivate an account” within the app, to comply with Apple’s new policy. An option that will save you the tedious task of going to the web version to find these options in the configuration.
How do you delete your Instagram account from your iOS device? Just open the app, go to Settings and enter the Account section. If you scroll to the bottom you will find the option “Delete account”.
When you choose this option, Instagram will suggest “deactivate the account” so you will have to confirm again that you want to delete it. From this action, you have 30 days to repent and cancel the account deletion. To do this, you just need to log in to your Instagram account again.
