How to Delete a Photo Album on Your iPhone or iPad

Apple has designed the iPhone operating system to be fairly easy to use. If you ask any fan of the company, they’ll probably tell you that iOS is designed so even a toddler can use it. It’s clear that Cupertino doesn’t want a child accidentally deleting your photo albums, since they managed to hide this feature very effectively.

Here’s why, today we are going to show you how to delete photo albums from your iPhone. Although not a difficult procedure, its location can be unintuitive. This may lead you to not find the option where you think it should be, leading you to accumulate useless albums for a long time.

If you have owned multiple iPhone devices, you will probably see lots of photo albums created and duplicated when transferring photos from old to new. While some of them can be very useful, others have had their day and their presence will only complicate navigation in the Photos application. But do not worry, here’s how to delete them one by one.

This procedure should work on any iPhone whatever the model. You should also be able to follow the steps on your iPad.
How to Delete Photo Album on iPhone and iPad

  1. At first, search for the app Photos from your iPhone or iPad and open it.
  2. Go to tab Albums using the bottom bar.
  3. Once on this screen, you will see a double carousel menu with all the albums that exist on your device so far.
  4. In the upper right corner of this menu you will find the button View all. This is the one we are interested in, so click on it.
  5. When you are in the new screen, look for the button Modifier in the top corner and tap it. You will then see icons appear with the symbol (-) in red above each album.
  6. Tap the red button of the albums you want to delete. Then confirm your decision by tapping Delete album.

Once it’s done, the album will have been deleted. Note that this operation will not delete the photos contained in the albums. So if that’s what you want to do, go to the album and delete the photos before going to the previous step.

On the other hand, if the album was synced to your iCloud account, it will also disappear from the rest of your devices. This way, you won’t have to repeat the steps on your iPad or Mac. One of the many benefits of Apple’s ecosystem.
