Apple failed to update the latest Apple Watch series. Along with the system version of WatchOS 9.5, an unpleasant burnt-out tinge of the display appears in the last few generations of smart watches. However, it does not apply to users, but if it also appears on your watch, you will definitely recognize it at first glance. If you haven’t updated your Apple Watch yet, wait a little longer…
The green tint of the display most often appears on the lock screen, near notifications and then in the control center. For some, the green tinge is more pronounced, while for other users, it is not so visible. However, a large number of users were affected, with users of the Watch Series 4, Watch Series 5, Watch Series 6, Watch Series 7, Watch Series 8 and those using last year’s Watch SE reporting a green tinge to the display on Reddit. Only the Apple Watch Ultra seems to have avoided all the problems.

The cause of the green tinge of the watch displays is certainly software, after all, it wouldn’t be the first time. E.g. the iPhone 11 had a similar issue three years ago when updating to iOS 13.4. This time too, the problem started and was subsequently solved by a software update. And it will be the same now, but the real update has not yet been completed, so watch users have to accept the fact that their display will be green, possibly even for a longer time.
Reboot or hibernate
How to defend yourself? If you have not yet updated your watch to the latest version, postpone the update for a few more weeks. And if you’ve already updated and you’ve noticed more green in your system, you can try restarting your watch. In some cases, the unsightly tint of the display disappears. According to some, activating the sleep mode, which eliminates the green tint, also helps. However, due to the necessary activation of this mode, this is only a temporary solution.
Are you bothered by the green screen on your Apple Watch? The problem could be solved by restarting, or by activating Sleep mode. But this solution is only temporary, we are still waiting for a patch from Apple, which already knows about the error
And if not, you’ll have to wait for the upcoming WatchOS 9.6, which is currently in testing. However, it is possible that this version of the system does not yet contain a patch for the current software bug, so the wait for a potential fix may drag on for a few weeks.
The error did not escape the Apple Watch Series 8 either:
