The news that Elon Musk bought Twitter is still being received with different reactions by users. On the one hand, there are those who believe that the entrepreneur can help the platform to grow in the future, while others point out that this measure could harm the service as a whole.
There is already that you are planning to deactivate your account in light of recent news. And if you are part of this range, you have the possibility to remove or deactivate your account easily through the service settings.
It is, however, important to know how to carry out this process and what are the differences between them. Deactivation will be the first phase of the deletion of a Twitter account, with the users’ profile being placed in a “suspension” phase for 30 days.
During this period, the account is deactivated for the remaining users of the platform, but not yet completely removed from the service. Users can still log in again to gain access again – if they change their mind, for example.
On the other hand, complete deactivation only occurs after 30 days, where the account and all its data are permanently deleted. After this process, the account and all its data are deleted without the possibility of restoration, and the username is again available for registration.
But let’s see how you can start by deactivating your Twitter account:
1- Access Profile Settings, via the web version or the app.
2- Click on the option “More” > “Settings and Privacy”.
3- About the section “Your account”, select the option “deactivate your account”.
4- Read the information provided, indicating the steps to deactivate the account, and press the option “disable” to proceed with the measurement. You will be asked for the account password to perform the same.
Once this is done, just wait 30 days for the account to be deleted. If you log in to your account again within this period, you will be asked if you want to reactivate it and cancel the permanent deactivation.
