Once upon a time, you could easily create shortcuts to folders and files in Windows. It was enough to copy the folder or file and then choose to paste a shortcut. In Windows 11, that possibility seems to have disappeared, but it is actually hiding under the surface. The only difference is that it has become slightly more complicated. Microsoft has redesigned the menu that appears when you right-click, so it has become more compressed. However, it’s not hard to create shortcuts now either:
1. Copy the file or folder you want a shortcut to by right-clicking on it and clicking the icon Copy. (the second button in the top row). You can also choose to left-click (to highlight) and press the keys Ctrl+C.
2. Go to the location where you want your shortcut. Right-click and a menu will open. If it says Paste Shortcut you can of course click here, but otherwise you get to choose Show more alternatives (in some versions it says for some reason Exit more options). Now a longer list with many different functions is displayed, and here you will find Paste Shortcut.
