If you joined Snapchat to find new friends or expand your circle, having a good public profile is a must. As the name suggests, a public profile is what people who aren’t friends with you see about you on your profile, so you need to make a good impression on them. But you need to learn the basics first. Create your public Snapchat profile
The option to create a public profile is available on your Snapchat profile page. Note that by creating a public profile, you agree to have your name displayed on Snaps shared on Spotlight or Snap Maps. If you’re OK with that, you can create a profile for yourself here.
- Open Snapchat and tap your Bitmoji-Avatar in the upper left corner.
- Choose here My public profile.
- Finally, tap OK in the confirmation popup.
This will create your public profile page in the app.
Edit public profile on Snapchat
Creating your public profile was just the beginning. If you want others to add you, you need to make your profile somewhat attractive. Let’s see what we can do to make that happen.
- Tap the Edit icon on your public profile page.
- Click here to Avatar-Symbol and choose a photo of yourself. (You can use Bitmoji, but your photo helps build authenticity and trust.)
- Once you have selected, tap save Changes for confirmation.
- Next, add a biography by tapping the text field. Write something funny or interesting about yourself.
- You can use the switch for Show follower count if you have a lot of followers on the app.
- Then tap Locationand add your current location, city or country if needed.
- After you have added everything, tap Profile preview to see what it looks like for others.
Add Stories to your public Snapchat profile
Now that you have added the crucial elements to create your Snapchat profile, it’s time to add content to it. By this, I mean adding content so that non-followers can get an idea of what kind of content you create. To do this, you need to add some stories to your profile.
- Visit your public profile from your Snapchat profile page.
- Go to Stories and tap New Story.
- Press Continue in the confirmation pop-up. Read it before you proceed.
- You can add new stories from Article archive, Memoriesor Camera roll.
- Once you have selected the stories you want to add, tap Next.
- Tap Next again, then add a title for your stories if you want and press Finish.
They will be added to your public account. Even people who haven’t friended you or aren’t following you can see them.

Here’s how to create, edit, and maintain your public profile on Snapchat. It’s a good concept to give people a glimpse of who you are so they can form an opinion. Plus, you don’t have to reveal everything about yourself unless you want to, or hide completely behind a private account like you do on Instagram. Why can’t I create a public profile on Snapchat?
There are some basic requirements you must meet before you can create a public profile on Snapchat.
