Creating a public profile on Snapchat makes it easier for you to be found on the app and also gives you access to several new tools. Here’s everything you need to know about how to create a public profile on Snapchat.
Snapchat has become much more than a person-to-person photo sharing platform. From its humble beginnings in 2011, the app now has a huge range of features.
Viewers can also try their hand at the spotlight thanks to its variety of public figures who share snippets of their daily lives with fans.

However, to do so, you must first set up a public profile on Snapchat so that users can sign up and view your content. Here’s how you can do it.
Create a public Snapchat profile
If you want to expand Snapchat beyond your friends, having a public profile is essential. It doesn’t automatically make you a creator account, but it’s a step in the right direction.

However, please note that in order to be eligible to create a public profile, you must be at least 18 years old. Your content should also follow the Snapchat Community Guidelines and your account must have more than 24 hours.

How to set up a public profile
To make your profile public, simply follow this short list of steps:
- Make sure the “Who can… see my story” setting for your account is set to “Everyone‘. If you don’t follow this step, it will be more difficult to find the Create a public profile button.
- If you haven’t already, open the Snapchat app and select your Bitmoji or profile icon in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Go to the call section public profiles on your profile screen.
- Tap the ‘buttonCreate a public profile‘ which will take you to the ‘Create Public Profile’ screen which outlines exactly what having the new profile means to you.
- Click on ‘Keep on‘ and then in ‘Start‘.
- Next, a dialog will appear that provides brief information about what having a public profile will do. If you still want to continue, press the ‘buttonCreate‘.
- You will then be taken to your profile page, where you will be able to access ‘public profiles‘ to see your new profile.
- To open it, tap ‘my public profile . This is where you can also edit and preview your profile.
How to delete your public profile on Snapchat
If you decide you want to delete your public profile, you can do so by going to your settings at through the public profile screen. Once you are there, follow these steps to remove it:
- After scrolling to the bottom of the page, select the ‘Delete public profile‘.
- You will then receive a confirmation message asking if you still wish to proceed with deleting your public profile.
- If yes, go ahead and tap ‘To remove‘.
