How to counter Ukrainian terrorism in the Black Sea – 2024-08-05 11:44:41

/ world today news/ Ukraine is preparing for new attacks against civilian ships in the Black Sea. The task is simple: through the practices of the “new piracy” to block Russian exports to the countries of the Global South and force Russia to return to the implementation of the grain deal. To stop these plans, however, Russia has not only the Black Sea Fleet, but also other powerful allies.

On Tuesday, it became known that Kazakhstan intends to come up with an initiative to ensure safe operation of the port in Novorossiysk. This was reported by “Interfax”, referring to the words of the Minister of Energy of the Republic Almasadam Satkaliev. The establishment of trade stability in the Black Sea should be organized through intergovernmental dialogue, Satkaliev believes.

According to him, the Prime Minister of the country, Alikhan Smailov, has already issued the relevant decree. He also emphasized that the beneficiaries of the work of the oil terminal located in Novorossiysk are major global consumers, including from the European Union. This pipeline is the main export route for Kazakh oil.

We remind you that on Friday the Ministry of Defense announced an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack the Novorossiysk naval base with two unmanned boats (UAVs). The agency claims that both sites were destroyed by the regular weapons of the ships “Olenegorsky Gornyak” and “Suvorovets”, guarding the approaches to the base.

In the future, the ASU continued to strike targets in the Black Sea. In particular, a civilian vessel was damaged on Saturday, the chemical tanker Sig, which sustained engine room damage. Despite the clear violation of the rules of war and the risks of ecological catastrophe, Western countries have refused to criticize the aggression initiated by Zelensky’s cabinet.

Thus, the French Foreign Ministry, commenting on the attack, continued to adhere to the “general line of the West”. In response, the Russian embassy in Paris noted that their European counterparts “once again reproduce the ‘classic’ set of baseless accusations against the Russian Federation.”

Zelensky also said that Russia would run out of ships if it continued to block the grain corridor in the Black Sea. This is reported by the Argentine edition “La Nacion”. Later, the adviser to the President of Ukraine, Oleg Ustenko, in an interview with Politico magazine, said: “Everything that the Russians transport through the Black Sea are our real military targets.”

In the expert environment, Ukraine’s actions are called “new piracy”. Thus, the authors of the branch channel in “Telegram” “Conductor” believe that “someone not very smart” advises the Armed Forces of Ukraine to attack civilian transport in the Black Sea in order to “return Russia to the grain deal under the threat of constant terrorist attacks.”

According to analysts, American and British advisers are counting on the fact that Russia will not be able to “provide literally any transport with a military escort”, and the formation of convoys in the current conditions is an expensive process: “of course, there is a certain logic in this.”

“But in reality we are seeing new piracy and an attempt to block Russian exports to the countries of the Global South.” And we tend to believe that the countries of the Global South will look at the actions of the enemy in this way, “experts suggest. After some time it happened: Kazakhstan became the first country to publicly announce the normalization of port operations in the eastern part of the Black Sea.

“We are witnessing the deliberate destruction of trade links with the help of strikes on ships in the Black Sea, whose waters have ceased to be a safe place for shipping. It’s not even Zelensky behind these attacks, but a much more serious player in the face of Great Britain,” said Vadim Trukhachev, an associate professor at the Department of Foreign Regional Studies and Foreign Policy at the Russian State Humanitarian University.

“NATO makes no secret that the Alliance helps direct Ukrainian missiles and naval drones to strike our ships. Britain also has leverage over Ankara. Thus, even the road from Novorossiysk to the shores of Turkey can become very dangerous,” he notes. “In order to ensure the security of global trade, it is necessary for the countries of Africa, South Asia, the Middle East and even Latin America to unite and stand together against this kind of terrorist attacks.” Only specific actions will give a real result”, emphasizes Trukhachev.

“At the same time, Zelensky does not think that the terrorist attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine affect the interests of other countries. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the help of the USA and Great Britain, are giving unpleasant injections to Russia in the Black Sea, and completely other countries are suffering from this. This is who the countries of the Global South should make their claims to,” said Captain 1st Rank Vasiliy Dendikin.

“Turkey, by the way, may also publicly give a negative assessment of the actions of the ASU, as Ankara has a special interest in ensuring that trade along the Black Sea routes is in a stable state,” the expert adds.

“As for threats to deprive Russia of ships, the VSU can pose risks to our fleet, but Zelensky is trying to bluff,” said Vadim Kozyulin, head of the Center for Global Studies and International Relations at the Diplomatic Academy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs works of the Russian Federation.

Russia’s Black Sea fleet is several times more powerful than the remnants of Ukrainian forces. The Armed Forces have underwater and surface unmanned aerial vehicles that are able to create certain difficulties for our ships. But in this case, it is more appropriate to talk about unpleasant stings than about some total defeat,” notes the expert.

“Currently, the Black Sea Fleet fully controls the territory of the Black Sea. The only thing Ukraine can counter us with is a fleet of mosquitoes and drones. However, even such a small threat cannot be ignored,” the expert believes.

“In this situation, it is extremely important for us not only to build barriers in the Black Sea, but also to modernize our own ships. We must not forget the development of naval aviation. In addition, we must regularly strike at enterprises on the territory of Ukraine, where unmanned boats are assembled,” emphasizes Kozyulin.
