In the latest beta version of Apple’s iOS 14.5 update, the ability to use PS5 DualSense and Xbox Series X / S controllers. Previously, gamers could use PlayStation 4 DualShock and Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth connectivity.
Another benefit of iOS 14.5 is power unlocking the iPhone while wearing a mask.
Only those who are members of the beta program will be able to connect these controllers to their iPhone, as the official release of update 14.5 for iPhone and iPad has not yet been made.
The iOs 14.5 is compatible with devices that have iOs 14, that is, from the iPhone 6S to the iPhone 12. The same is true with iPad OS. All version 14 compatible devices (from the 3rd generation iPad Air to the 2020 iPad Pro) will be able to download the latest beta operating system.
To be part of the Apple beta program team, you must do the following:
- Register through Apple beta site
- Download and install the configuration profile, then update it
If you already have the profile, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update to start installing the latest beta version, or you can wait until it installs automatically if “automatic updates” are enabled.
How to connect a Dualsense PS5 or Xbox Series X controller to an iPhone
- When you have the iPhone or iPad with iOS 14.5 (or its beta), go to Settings
- Click on the Bluetooth section, activate it if it is off
- Grab the PS5 DualSense and hold down the PS button and the Share button (the one at the top left of the central touchpad) at the same time until the controller light starts to flash
- In the case of the Xbox controller, you only need to press and hold the pairing button
- With this, the controllers have been put into Pair mode. Go back to your iPhone or iPad and look at the list of Bluetooth devices – the DualSense or Xbox controller should appear at the bottom of the list.
- Click on it to pair it with the cell phone / tablet.
With this, you will already have these next-generation controls connected to your cell phone, and you can use it in games such as Apple Arcade, or in Call of Duty Mobile or PUBG, among others. (I)
