How to Connect Logic Remote to an iPad

The first time you open Logic Remote, you’re prompted to connect to a Mac that’s running GarageBand, Logic Pro, or MainStage. You can connect over Wi-Fi or through a USB-C or Lightning cable.

Connecting to Logic Remote over Wi-Fi

  1. Make sure the Mac and iPad are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  2. Open Logic Remote on the device.

On the iPad, a connection dialog shows Mac computers that are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and have the Mac application (Logic Pro, GarageBand, or MainStage) open.

  3. Choose the Mac you want to connect to.

An alert in the app on the Mac asks you to accept the connection.

  4. Click “Connect to” to confirm and establish the connection.

Any subsequent connection with the same device should be done automatically.

Connect to Logic Remote using a USB-C or Lightning cable

  1. Plug the USB-C or Lightning cable into the Mac and into the iPad.

  2. Open Logic Remote on the device.

A connection dialog box presents the connected Mac computer on the iPad. If the Wi-Fi antenna is enabled, the dialog box also shows computers connected to the same Wi-Fi network and on which the Mac application (Logic Pro, GarageBand or MainStage) is open.

  3. Choose the Mac you want to connect to.

An alert in the app on the Mac asks you to accept the connection.

  4. Click “Connect to” to confirm and establish the connection.

Any subsequent connection with the same device should be done automatically.

In case of disconnections from the Wi-Fi network

Try one of the following solutions:

  • Position the Mac and iPad to take advantage of the best possible network performance.

  • Turn Wi-Fi off on the device, then turn it back on.

  • Connect to Logic Remote using a Lightning cable.
