Connecting smart lights to television screens has become more than a modality, it is a new trend that in addition to decorating your entertainment spaces, provides you with a unique experience.

To start syncing your Hue lights to Apple TV, you will need:
- Philips Hue Bridge
- Philips Hue smart lights with color capability
- Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box
- TV with HDMI port
- You also need an entertainment area set up in the normal Hue app before you start. If you don’t already have one, open your Hue app and go to Settings> Entertainment Areas> Create Entertainment Area.
Step 1: install the Hue Sync mobile app and sync box
You will need to download the mobile app Hue Sync before you can configure your sync box. Once it is installed on your mobile device, connect the sync box to a power outlet using the included power cord. Use the HDMI cable to connect the sync box to your TV.

Step 2: connect Apple TV to sync box
Use another HDMI cable to connect your Apple TV to one of the four HDMI inputs on the sync box. Your Apple TV will no longer be connected directly to your TV, but it should still be connected to power!
Open the Hue Sync mobile app again to see if the sync box has detected the Apple TV. Under “HDMI Inputs”, you can rename your Apple TV and give it an icon for easy identification.
Step 3: Launch Apple TV
All that’s left to do is turn on your Apple TV! Once it’s turned on and playing video, tap the green “Home” button at the bottom of the Hue Sync mobile app screen.
You can adjust many other settings in the Hue Sync mobile app, including the speed and brightness of the lights as they sync, as well as how the sync box reacts to the new HDMI inputs.
One setting enables automatic HDMI switching: as soon as you turn on your Apple TV, the Philips Hue lights immediately begin syncing, creating the captivating multimedia experience created by the sync box.
