WhatsApp can generate a report about your activity on the app. It only takes seconds to ask. It’s free to download, so consider finding out what the app knows about you right now.
The report contains your account information and settings. It is important to note that WhatsApp will not reveal your messages. You can do this, but it will contain a lot of information about your history on the app.
This includes your name and phone number, as well as contact numbers. You will be able to see all the WhatsApp groups you have joined, the device type, the IP addresses of your connection, your profile pictures, when you changed the About section of your profile and much more.
Also in the WhatsApp report is the exact time you changed your profile picture, the numbers you blocked and your privacy settings. And explain whether you accepted the 2016 terms and conditions that allowed data sharing with Facebook for the first time.
There is a lot of technical information on how you used it. And this is the kind of information WhatsApp could pass on to the police if you’re in trouble with the law.
To request your account information:
- You have to use the mobile app, it won’t work on WhatsApp Desktop either whatsapp web.
- Then go to Settings > Account > Request account information.
- From there, tap Request Report and you will soon see Request Sent appear.
It takes about three days for the report to be finalized and appear. There should be an availability date that lets you know how long it might take. Note that once you request a report, you cannot cancel or change the request.
When the report is finally available for download, you will receive a WhatsApp notification on your phone. It will say, “Your account information report is now available.”
When the report is ready, tap Download report. You can then export the report to another location, including copying it to your email. You can then delete the report as well.
