Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – How to check HP’s International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) when you just bought it must be known. The reason is, IMEI is an identity number designed to identify a cellphone.
This is useful for ensuring that the cellphone you buy is officially registered and not illegal goods.
In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Informatics No. 1 of 2020 concerning Control of Telecommunication Tools and/or Equipment Connected to Cellular Mobile Networks Through IMEI, the government enforces IMEI synchronization to all telecommunication devices.
If the IMEI is not registered with the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) the device you purchased cannot be used. Especially for cellphones, they cannot use a SIM card and are blocked from the Indonesian cellular operator network.
For that you need to be wary of illegal IMEIs that don’t conform to standard formats, such as the same 15 digits or blank numbers.
Before checking the status, you need to know the IMEI number of the cellphone. There are at least 3 easy ways to find out your cellphone’s IMEI number, here’s how:
1. Check the IMEI Code on the Cardboard
Check IMEI by looking at your cellphone box. Usually the IMEI number is in the form of a 15-digit number printed on a sticker attached to the cellphone box.
2. Validate the IMEI Number on the Cellphone
IMEI check can also be done in the cellphone settings. To do this, you just need to enter the Settings menu > General > About > find information about the IMEI number.
3. Make a Phone Call to *#06#
Finally, check IMEI can be done via dial up. You can type *#06# and a menu will appear showing IMEI information.
