Will Mexico receive Christmas with a new wave of COVID?
COVID cases have increased in recent weeks in several countries around the world due to two new subvariants of omicron. These are XBB, considered “the nightmare” by some medical reports, and BQ.1, nicknamed the “hell hound”, but could this cause a new wave of infections in Mexico?
Since epidemiological week number 45 (we are currently at 48) there has been a progressive increase in COVID cases, reported the undersecretary of health, Hugo López-Gatell, last Tuesday, November 29, during the morning conference by President Andrés Manuel Lopez obrador.
“In our country, as we have also been warning for several months, from the summer, and after a period of decline, there could be a trend change and we will begin to have more infections. But fortunately the increase has not accelerated, it is much slower than the reduction of cases and this is very important to keep in mind,” she said.
