Friday 15 April will be a day that will remain in the history of ATMs but also of credit cards.
A series of inefficiencies so vast and so widespread hadn’t been seen for some time and half of Italy remained blocked both as regards withdrawals at the ATM but also with regard to electronic payments.
At the beginning it was thought of trivial disservices absolutely unrelated but then it was realized that it was a real one general block.
A large-scale disservice
With the climate of war that we are experiencing, many were convinced and perhaps are still convinced today that it was a major cyber attack by Russia.
Russia has often threatened Italy considered a hostile country and therefore why not block the payment systems of Italians effectively bringing the country to its knees? It would have been a truly unprecedented paralysis but the investigation led in a completely different direction. It was simply a large-scale disservice that had no malicious intent. But now Codacons is asking the banks for compensation.
What does the Codacons want
In fact, Codacons maintains that the disservice suffered by citizens is considerable and that for some of them it may have also been a very serious and dangerous situation. Precisely for this reason Codacons request important compensation and above all automatic compensation. In fact, it would be unlikely that millions of Italians were forced to fill in moduli of various kinds to ask for compensation. According to the Codacons, banks must provide compensation automatic towards all those who have suffered the inconvenience.
Automatic refreshments
These automatic reimbursements could also be very simple to dispense in a form perhaps of a discount relating to the normal costs of managing the various services. According to Codacons, this is a real duty on the part of the banks that have exposed their customers to an important disservice and that now it is better that they compensate their customers in automatic form rather than expect retaliation from disappointed and frustrated customers for the disservice. By the way these days the cost of the bank has risen so much and it wouldn’t be a bad idea that of providing discounts that can contain this increasingly marked outlay.
