Disappointment for many budding singers who already saw themselves organizing family karaoke at Christmas: Apple Music Sing requires a latest generation Apple TV 4K, the one released in October 2022, to work. How come ? Because Apple has set the minimum configuration on an A13 chip to run this feature which requires a lot of neural power. However, all is not lost for owners of Apple TV 2021 or earlier, there is a solution called AirPlay video.
With AirPlay it is possible to view the karaoke mode performed by an iPhone or an iPad on an old Apple TV, provided that it is obviously compatible (therefore you need at least an iPhone 11, iPad 9, iPad mini 6, iPad Air 4 or iPad Pro M1 with iOS 16.2 ).
Start by turning on screen mirroring in your iPhone/iPad Control Center (button with two screens) and selecting your Apple TV. The screen of your mobile terminal will then be displayed on your television. All you have to do is activate Apple Music Sing in the Music app (press the microphone in the lyrics display of compatible titles) to see the karaoke appear on the big screen.
