How to Add Widgets to Lock Screen on iOS 16

The new iOS 16 widget can display various kinds of information.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — With the release of iOS 16, currently accessible via public beta and expected to be fully rolled out this fall, iPhone users can now add widgets to the Lock Screen. New widgets can display anything from weather to stock information to calendar events, and will update themselves regularly.

At WWDC, Apple also announced that Live Activities—features that display live information such as updating sports scores or the time until an Uber driver arrives—can also be displayed in features such as widgets on the Lock Screen. However, Live Activities won’t be ready for a public rollout in the fall, and will be coming at a later date via an update.

Here’s how to add currently available widgets to your Lock Screen Mashable, Thursday (4/8/2022).

Open Settings and scroll down to “Wallpapers”

This is where any edits on your Lock Screen will be displayed.

· Tap Lock Screen to open available edits

If you want to create a completely new Lock Screen, you can also tap on “Add New Wallpaper” and allow any edits before proceeding to add the widget with the steps below.

· Tap the empty box under the clock

This will pull up the available widgets and the one you select will go into the area enclosed by this box.

· Select the widget you want and set it

Certain widgets will have different size options (for example, a smaller square or a larger rectangle).

Depending on the size you choose, you can choose between two and four widgets for your Lock Screen, and the widgets will appear in a row in the order you choose.

· Tap “Done” in the top right corner and admire your new widget

With it, a lot of info will now be available every time you pick up the phone.
