How To Activate Display Mode On A Lenovo Laptop

A new “display mode” feature from Amazon is now rolling out to select Lenovo laptops. After activating this feature, it will change your home screen to the Echo Show smart screen-like home screen similar to the display mode feature on Amazon tablets. This means you’ll be able to do smart displays, like controlling smart home devices, browsing the news and weather headlines, and chatting with Alexa, you know, the work you’ve always wanted to be able to do on the ThinkPad.

This feature is currently rolling out on PC Yoga, ThinkPad, and IdeaPad with built-in Alexa, and in the US, UK, Germany, Japan, India, Ireland, Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. Lenovo said it will launch more Alexa-enabled PCs later this year.

If you’re interested in trying it out, open the Alexa app (it will appear if you type “Alexa” in the Windows search bar) and hit the Show Mode button.

If the ThinkPad X12 detachable display can use “display mode”, I will be very happy.

Lenovo first announced this feature in International Consumer Electronics Fair 2021 Equipped with Yoga Slim 9i. Chromebook has this feature for a moment —When not actively used, they can double as the Nest Hub Max, although I can’t say I’ve used it as a regular Chromebook user.

In fact, “display mode” seems to be more useful for tablet-sized devices (which may not always be around the keyboard and trackpad). It could be great.
