It can get weird. Sylvester Stallone threw a vase of flowers at Arnold Schwarzenegger at a Golden Globes awards ceremony. That was in 1977. Arnold joked that Rocky would win no prizes that night. Sylvester felt personally attacked.
Rocky, a boxing film about an underdog going for the title, was Sylvester’s Hollywood debut. Not only did Sylvester play the part of Rocky, but he also wrote the script.
Underdog
Hollywood did not want to know anything about an Italian boxer at the time. That is why Sylvester himself picked up the boxing film and went looking for the right people who wanted to film it.
Also in real life this super strong guy was the underdog. And Arnold’s comments hit him more than he thought.
Sylvester Stallone tells:
“I thought, I’m going. Who does this big guy think he is? And he’s beaming and beaming, because my film won’t win anything.”
Prices
Fortunately, during the evening the film started to win prizes. Rocky received a Golden Globe for best director, one for best film, and one for best film editor.
“I thought, ‘Finally, it’s time for Rocky. When Rocky won the best film award, I grabbed the first one within my reach and threw it at Arnold. It turned out to be a heavy vase of flowers. With lilies and tulips. That started a ten-year feud. And I thought: the gauntlet has been thrown.”

Sylvester tells that Arnold Schwarzenegger the vase dodged. But Sylvester’s crass response to a few cheesy words on an important night sparked a years-long feud between the two action heroes.
It took about ten years, but now they have settled the quarrel and they are friends. But that was literally not without a struggle.
