Washington DC: The Colorado Party MP and official candidate for the post of mayor in Ciudad del Este, Ulises Quintana and his wife, have been classified by the US as “seriously corrupt” and are no longer allowed to enter the country.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Colorado Party politician took part in acts that promoted cross-border organized crime, undermined the rule of law and hindered public confidence in public processes.
The news was announced at a virtual press conference this morning by Joseph Salazar, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Paraguay. The ban is lifelong and affects the parliamentarian of the Colorado Añetete movement and his wife Mirta Beatriz Esperanza Fariña.
So he moves in the circle of the chosen, where Óscar González haben and Javier Díaz Verón and their families can also be found. It is questionable whether he can remain an official candidate for the mayor’s post.
Paraguayan Representative Ulises Quintana’s corrupt actions facilitated transnational organized crime and undermined the rule of law in Paraguay. I am publicly designating him ineligible for entry into the U.S. We stand #UnitedAgainstCorruption with the people of Paraguay.
