The drummer Peter Kronreif has lived in New York for ten years. He is currently visiting Salzburg.
It happens instantly. Right with the first chords. Something is striking in the soul. Touch her. It is a form of very beneficial inwardness and spirituality. These are additions that were a part of jazz in the 1980s and 1990s like a sunrise over the day. But slowly that changed. The inwardness gave way too often to a cool, high technical brilliance.
This sound, which has recently moved into the background – can certainly be called “soulfoud”, that is, as soul food – is found in abundance …
