It continues whirling, day after day, the fall in gas prices. The price-cap launched by the European Union to sterilize Russia’s energy blackmail of Vladimir Putin. A decision, the one to cap the price of the raw material, which came after long months of vetoes and negotiations. Incidentally, a very “soft” form of price-cap has been launched, yet the consequences appear very serious.
In fact, at the market in Amsterdam, the cost of gas is mid-morning dropped to 77 euros per MWh. This is the lowest value since February 8, when there were still two weeks left before the start of the invasion of Ukraine ordered by Tsar Putin. And again, futures contracts for the month of January drop 3.8% to 77 euros per Mwh, a level last reached on 8 February.
Quotations also marked sharp declines in London, with the reopening of negotiations following the Christmas holidays: methane on the City market marks a drop of 7.05% to 186 pence per Mbtu, or the multiple thousand of the British thermal unit.
And still going back to the TTF, the market in amsterdamat the opening of negotiations, today Wednesday 28 December, the price was 80 euro Mwh. And again, futures contracts for the month of January mark a drop of 0.05% to 80 euros per MWh.
