Despite the scandals of the last year, WhatsApp continues to maintain its relevance in the market through updates as useful as possible. The newly introduced features are not necessarily for everyone, but if you understand their usefulness, it may make your life easier.
There has been talk for several weeks about a major update to WhatsApp on interaction with groups. Through a mechanism called Communities, groups could become much easier to manage, especially if they include a significant number of members.
WhatsApp groups, transformed into communities
Since the beginning of October, XDA Developers have obtained interesting information about a future version of WhatsApp that could include Communities or Communities. At the time, however, I had no idea how this new category of groups might work. Now, WABetaInfo had the opportunity to test a beta version of WhatsApp which also includes the function mentioned above.
The Communities appear to give group administrators more flexibility. Options that didn’t exist before include the ability to create a group within a group. If you are a Discord user, this mechanism may be similar to channels in a community.
Administrators will be able to add new users via an invitation link, so that they can start communicating through messages immediately after. The peculiarities of the mechanism are not yet very clear, but one thing is certain. They will continue to be encrypted end-to-end.
As a visual detail, it seems that communities will be differentiated from normal groups by a few interface elements. From the WABetaInfo experience, communities will be highlighted by square icons with rounded corners.
In the end, the effort WhatsApp it is as clear as can be. He wants to do a much better job of competing with Telegram and Signal, two chat apps that do an exemplary job when it comes to groups of thousands or tens of thousands of members. As an idea, the limit of a Telegram group is 200,000, while in the case of WhatsApp we are talking about only 256 members.
