Italy has now become the country of bonuses. The Draghi Government has in fact just signed the decree for the new TV bonus from 100 euro, which adds to the old bonus for decoders. The new bonus, as known, is intended to help families in the transition to the new DVB-T2 and HEVC format, already launched in 2020. In September 2021 in some areas, the new format will already be switched and the old channels will no longer be visible. The transition will end in June 2022. The previous bonus was 50 euros, reserved for citizens with an ISEE below 20 thousand euros: the new bonus is instead of 100 euros or 20% on the purchase price, and is available to everyone within the threshold of 100 euros. With this bonus it is easy to take 55-inch televisions home even on e-commerce sites even under 500 euros. The entry requirements are simple.
How the new € 100 TV bonus works and what are the requirements
First of all, you must be a Rai subscriber and therefore pay the fee regularly. The second requirement is to be resident in Italy. Finally, you need to have a scrapped TV. It must have been purchased before December 2018 and must not be compatible with the new standards.
As for the first two requirements, a self-certification should suffice, which will eventually be subjected to random checks. For the scrapping, however, you can take the old TV directly to the physical retailer who will deal with the matter, or to an authorized recycling center by obtaining a scrapping certificate that you can present to access the bonus. With this document, in theory, you can then buy the new TV anywhere, even online, some details are still missing to have definitive certainty.
