Party secretary Harri Vuorenpää told message service in X, that the member of parliament for basic Finns Timo Vornanen (ps) will be on sick leave. Vornanen had been detained after a suspected shooting that took place after a restaurant night.

– On a more general level, I commented that if a person does something stupid or has messed something up, it can cause an anxiety reaction, insomnia or adjustment disorder. Symptoms may appear if this matter is discussed in public or if it has happened, for example, at the workplace or in a place where the target audience may give critical feedback about the actions. If you shot a gun into the ground alone in a cottage, it would hardly cause any symptoms to a person, says Vänni.
– That’s what you think about and think about, which leads to insomnia, which then leads to sick leave. It is a so-called self-inflicted problem. And I’m not talking about this one case, but in general, Vänni sharpens.

– It still seems to be the country’s custom for a leader or politician to have a bad day and take a long sick leave.

According to Vänni, there are many aspects to sickness absence caused by one’s own procrastination, but as a doctor, he does not take a position on the money side, i.e. whether it is right for the employer to pay sick pay in such a case.
In general, according to Vänni, occupational health is not often applied for sick leave due to one’s own hiccups.
– More than that, they are physical injuries that have been received even during the weekend, these are not terribly common.
Vornanen’s sick leave announcement coincides with a time when he has been in the public eye due to the shooting that took place in the center of Helsinki.
