How Termites Eaten 30,000 Malaysian Ringgit, Grandson Shares Shocking Incident | Read the Story Now

Recently, a grandmother from Malaysia was very startled when she had to check how much she had of her saved money.

She had banknotes to the value of 30,000 Malaysian ringgit, which is equivalent to NOK 88,000, in a box in her house.

The grandson shares the story

When she opened the box last week to count the savings, she saw that the banknotes had been eaten by termites.

It is her grandson, Khairul Azhar, who shares the incident with the outside world in a Facebook posts.

Now the story is spreading like wildfire on social media.

Termites

Termites are one order of insects. Most eat wood, roots or other plant material, and many are serious pests on buildings. Termites are found in all parts of the world, between 42° north and south latitude.

The termites’ main food is wood, but they also attack a number of other substances and cause great damage. The termites are shady animals that work in what is hidden from humans. However, they do great good by tilling the soil and recycling nutrients. Among other things on savanner they are considered key species which many other animals and plants depend on, but they can also cause damage in barren areas by removing the vegetation.

According to Azhar, his grandmother had allegedly saved the money for a pilgrimage to Mecca in 2024.

When she opened the box, her dreams of the trip to the “Holy Land” were shattered.

Warns others

Azhar says he tried to salvage the situation by sending half of the damaged notes to Malaysia’s central bank in the hope of getting them replaced.

However, he claims that the other half was impossible to save, as many of the notes just looked like scraps of paper.

Now he is warning others to refrain from storing their cash in the home in the same way as their grandmother.
