“I’m also confused, up to 500 meters from me there are also (selling seblak),” said Windy, quoted from the YouTube channel TRANS TV Official.

Teh Windy’s seblak business started from its lowest point when he was laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though at that time, she and her husband had just married.

“2021 is the time of COVID-19 until now. When we first got married, we were immediately laid off. Everyone from my husband and I were laid off,” she said.

Before working and eventually being laid off, Windy worked in the pharmaceutical field. However, her love for the culinary world made Windy change direction.

After being laid off, Windy and her husband had to survive the pandemic. He tried to sell some simple food until he was finally inspired to open a seblak stall.

“We used to work together in F&B, in 2019 I changed gears (from the pharmacy) to go there. From there I was still selling lotek, fried food, karedok, every morning. Finally I sold seblak because I liked seblak,” he said.

The woman from Subang initially only relied on a small amount of capital. Armed with IDR 1 million, Windy turned the capital into a seblak business.

Seblak Teh Windy is made using simple kitchen spices. Its appeal lies in its wide variety topping which he provides. Visitors can choose according to their respective budgets.

“So there are 100 toppings, you can choose according to the price. If you take as much as you like, it’s just crackers. Some people (once bought) IDR 70 thousand per portion,” he explained.

At first, Windy only sold in her in-laws’ yard. The portions he offers are also still in limited quantities. Read on the next page.
