Socio-aesthetics is the professional practice of aesthetic care for populations suffering and weakened by an attack on their physical integrity (illness, accident, old age, etc.), psychological integrity (mental illnesses, addictions, etc.) and/or in social distress.
Socio-aesthetics actually concerns a lot of people. this practice can take place following a long illness, to support a disability, to get out of a difficult period (breakup, depression, long period of unemployment), to help a person reintegrate after leaving prison, it is extremely varied.
Socio-estheticians are qualified, this diploma is recognized by the state, and in certain cases, mutual insurance companies reimburse part of the care. We are therefore talking about a completely serious and effective practice. The school that manages the teaching of socio-aesthetics is CODES.
“This practice is multidisciplinary” confided to us Mélinda Calado, our guest. We must already diagnose, analyze the person we are facing, in order to adapt the work tools. And there are many of them, Mélinda Calado works, in addition to aesthetic treatments, with aromatherapy (essential oils) lithotherapy (stones), there can be motor skills exercises, creative making workshops…It can there may be blockages, the people concerned may feel a lack of legitimacy to benefit from their care, the first task often consists of unblocking them. To do this, socio-estheticians work in collaboration with nurses, caregivers, specialized educators, psychologists, it is true team work.
Mélinda Calado goes directly to people’s homes, she works around Poitiers, within a radius of around thirty kilometers.
