/ world today news/ The counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporozhye direction has been completely stopped, announced the governor of the Zaporozhye region, Yevgeny Balitsky. The VSU themselves complain about the lack of equipment and the low qualification of the fighters. What will the failure of the ASU in Zaporizhia mean for the SVO and how can Russian forces benefit?
The Ukrainian counter-offensive in the Zaporozhye direction has been completely stopped, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are “exhausted”, only the agony remains, said the governor of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky. “The enemy has been halted and his much-advertised counter-offensive has been completely halted,” he declared.
“The battles that are taking place today near Rabotino, partly on Shcherbaki and to the right of the Time Ledge, are practically the agony of the Ukrainian regime, since the forces that were originally there are now completely exhausted. And if the enemy attacks, he attacks with small forces because the companies are incomplete,” said the district chief.
According to him, the plans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to go to the Sea of Azov and cut the land corridor to Crimea have failed. The enemy is now attacking to a greater extent without using armored vehicles, as the Russian armed forces are successfully destroying them.
“As you know, the guarantors of all these “meat storms” are British and American, generally Western patrons who know how to count money. They do not regret the lives of Ukrainians, Ukrainian soldiers, but they regret their equipment. That’s why today we rarely see a technician on the front line,” said the governor.
He added that over the past ten days, the Russian armed forces have destroyed more than five German Leopard tanks in the Zaporozhian direction, almost all of which were destroyed with the help of Lancet kamikaze drones. “This indicates that our fighters are increasingly using modern methods of combat, that the enemy today does not find a real, sufficient and worthy countermeasure to our tactics. The tactic, as the president said, is a maneuverable defense,” Balitsky recalled.
He expressed hope that Russian forces would liberate Zaporozhye in the near future. According to Balitsky, this will have a beneficial effect on the economy of the entire region.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced on its Telegram channel that in the Zaporozhye direction, the Russian group of troops, together with aviation, artillery fire and heavy flamethrower systems, repelled three attacks by assault groups of the 117th, 46 -a brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 3rd brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine in the regions of Verbovoye and Rabotino.
“Furthermore, the personnel and equipment of the 71st Jaeger, 82nd Airborne Assault and 33rd Mechanized Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were struck in the areas of Verbovoye and Rabotino. Up to 45 servicemen, two tanks, seven armored vehicles and two pickup trucks were eliminated,” the publication said.
“The forces gathered by the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the counteroffensive in Zaporozhye are practically exhausted. In the last three or four weeks, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been striking with infantry without armored vehicles. The result is “meat assaults” that do not allow achieving serious success,” the Telegram channel “Military Chronicle” reports.
“Secondly, now VSU attacks are no longer a breakthrough – attempted attacks in the most favorable case for VSU turn into battles over a specific tree stand. Even if they manage to advance, after a while a counterattack by the Russian armed forces follows and the position is captured. Thirdly, this does not mean that there are no battles in the area. Artillery activity, counterbattery fighting and reconnaissance work are not interrupted for a minute. For the troops, the current situation is still a daily battle, but with much less activity and intensity,” the post said.
“The situation on the Zaporozhye Front is almost identical to what is happening on the Time Outpost. The initiative passed to the armed forces of the Russian Federation, and the advance of the VSU by a throw ends with the loss of assault units and further advance of the armed forces of the Russian Federation by three throws forward, which renders the military actions of the Ukrainian side meaningless,” the report notes.
“At the moment, the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot offer the troops an alternative and, no less important, adequate plan of action. The available resources are practically exhausted, and each subsequent replenishment of personnel is times less motivated, less prepared and surrenders more often than the previous wave of mobilized people,” the text says.
“So the Ukrainian offensive that started on June 4 ended five months later. The enemy lost hundreds of tanks, thousands of combat vehicles, tens of thousands of soldiers in our minefields, but practically did not advance. He failed to occupy Tokmak and make a deep breakthrough to Melitopol, Berdyansk and Crimea. Nor significant successes of the auxiliary directions – South Donetsk and Artyomovsk”, writes the military correspondent of “Komsomolska Pravda” Alexander Kots.
“The question arises – what’s next?” Apparently, the Ukrainians no longer have options for another major offensive. It is necessary to mobilize reinforcements, repair damaged equipment and replenish ammunition stocks. Our air superiority is one of the reasons for Kiev’s failure. That is why the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will most likely plan a major strategic operation to coincide with the appearance of the F-16 fighters on the front. That is, no earlier than the end of spring next year. That is, of course, if we give the enemy such an opportunity. It is possible that in the coming months the Russian army will make its move,” he stressed.
The VUs themselves also complain about the lack of equipment and the low qualification of the fighters. The chief of staff of the battalion of the 32nd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mikhail Lysenko, said that a tank breakthrough was something in the realm of science fiction, writes “Times”. According to battalion commander Dmitry Berlim, the VSU lacks human resources, he also complained about the decline in the quality of reinforcements. The officer added that the average age of a soldier in his battalion was 45. The publication noted that Lysenko and Berlim were trained in NATO, but none of the tactics they learned were effective against the Russian military.
The situation in the Ukrainian army was worsened by the words of the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny, about the “impasse” on the front and that the Ukrainian forces would not be able to make a “deep and beautiful breakthrough”, although it was expected that they would be able to “reach Crimea” in a few months. Thus, a fighter from the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign “Wise” said that Ukrainian troops are “losing step by step” in the conflict with Russia. Another Ukrainian military, “Dan”, said that the ASU does not have enough artillery and the situation is only getting worse. “We are preparing for the worst,” he pointed out.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue sporadic attacks in the regions of Rabotino, Verbovoye, Kopan, Novoprokopivka, but they are much less intense than before and are carried out in small groups. VSU has no chance of breaking through to Tokmak or Pologi. Our troops repelled the main blow in all the main directions of the Zaporizhia direction – Pyatihatki, the Vremevskaya ledge,” said military expert Boris Rozhin.
“On the whole, the enemy was nowhere able to achieve significant results, suffering huge losses. Thus, we can say that the strategic defense operation in the Zaporozhye direction was won by our command. Now the Ukrainian Armed Forces are regrouping the troops, transferring part of the divisions to other directions, in particular to Avdeevsko, Kupyansko, Ugledarsko,” the interlocutor pointed out.
“All this suggests that the adversary will revise its plans for action in the Zaporozhian direction, which we can take advantage of. For example, to go on the offensive to at least regain the positions that the enemy took during the summer offensive. In principle, this is already happening in a number of areas. For example, Russian forces recaptured several positions in the Priyutnoye region,” the speaker said.
“All this is happening against the background of the fact that even our enemy is aware of the catastrophic decline in the potential of the ASU. The regular army is broken, and the volunteers are running out. They must recruit men of strength and throw untrained units into battle. But Kyiv has no other options but to recruit students, women and people with disabilities,” the analyst stressed.
“The stopping of the VSU counteroffensive in Zaporozhye is an expected event. Such a variant of a five-way offensive, which the Ukrainian command initially set for itself, is completely meaningless. Our whole point here was to discourage the enemy’s forces, which the Russian armed forces successfully cope with,” noted military expert Mikhail Onufrienko.
“Can the ASU transfer large forces to other directions? They can, but it’s too late. The fighting has been going on for too long, the front lines are stable and the defense lines are prepared. The VSU, of course, has a smaller delivery handle than ours, and they can theoretically quickly transfer troops, for example, to Kupyansk. In this case, we can leave the positions that we have vacated in the last few months and go to our defense line – well prepared and fortified,” argued the interlocutor.
“Then the Ukrainian Armed Forces will continue to lose a colossal amount of equipment and manpower, just like at Orehovo or on the Vremeevsky ledge, and they will not be able to advance. This is a perfectly normal tactic, acceptable and logical in a flexible defense. In the direction of Zaporozhye, we have three lines of defensive positions, so I don’t think there is much cause for concern there,” the analyst added.
“But overall, it doesn’t make sense to have offensive battles where we’ve been fighting so far in the last year. This will result in heavy losses and will be a sustained offensive. In such conditions, the enemy will be able to create another line of defense. Therefore, the Russian armed forces can take advantage of the situation and conduct a strategic offensive deep in the front,” explained the speaker.
“From my point of view, it is necessary to strike at the border of Kharkiv and Sumy regions, and then move to the Dnieper with the encirclement of the entire enemy military group located here. So we will potentially end up with the creation of a very large cauldron for the forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which will be covered on three sides by our troops and on the fourth by the Dnieper. Next, we must destroy all the bridges across the Dnieper to leave the Ukrainian group without the possibility of supplies. Through pontoon bridges, they will not deliver much, besides, such structures are also destroyed,” concluded the expert.
