The Russian freighter “Shibek Scholy” anchored off the Turkish Black Sea port of Karasu for six days at the beginning of July. In a letter dated July 1, the Ukrainian government asked Turkey to arrest the ship on suspicion of illegally transporting Ukrainian grain from the occupied port of Berdyansk. The Turkish government did not comment publicly on the case, but it did according to government circles, the ship could not proceed until its papers were checked. The blue-painted bulk carrier was stranded for days within sight of the coast.
