How pharmacies cope with AvP bankruptcy

By the turn of the year at the latest, reporting on the bankruptcy of the pharmacy computing center AvP has almost completely withdrawn from the public media. The public prosecutor’s office in Düsseldorf recently announced that it is investigating five suspects. These should belong to the management level of the AvP group of companies. According to information from DAZ.online, there are two women and three men. Specifically, the public prosecutor’s department for white-collar crime is concerned with suspicions of delaying bankruptcy, falsification of accounts, falsification of documents, fraud or aiding and abetting fraud, bankruptcy and breach of trust. AvP’s insolvency administrator puts the data center’s liabilities at 593.8 million euros – according to information from the creditors’ meeting on December 15, 2020, the total reported claims should amount to 617.7 million euros. This amount mainly includes the outstanding claims of the approximately 2,900 public pharmacies – i.e. the missing billing funds from August 2020. The group of creditors also includes hospital pharmacies and other service providers. In total, there should be around 5,000 creditors.
