What to expect for pensioners in August 2022
The last increase in pensions in 2022 took place on July 1, with subsequent increases scheduled for October and December. Therefore, there is no need to wait for significant changes in the payment of pensions. The increase in pensions in Ukraine is associated with a change the subsistence minimum for those who have lost their ability to work. As of August 1, 2022, this amount is 2027 UAH (until July 1, 2022 it was 1934 UAH).
So, as of August 1, 2022 the minimum pension is UAH 2027a maximum size – UAH 20,270.
Do social payments change in August 2022
State benefits increase when the living wage for able-bodied persons rises. And payments for children are connected with the subsistence minimum established for children of a certain age. In July, the last increase in the subsistence minimum took place. The next one should only be expected in December 2022. That’s why the amount of social payments in August 2022 remains unchanged.
Maternity payments
The amount of the maternity allowance is 100% of a woman’s average monthly income at her place of work. Non-working women (non FLP paying ERUs) receive payments in the amount of at least 25% of the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons (and this is 650 UAH/month ). Nothing will change in August 2022. Therefore, women will continue to receive:
- for 180 days of maternity leave – UAH 3900;
- for 140 days of maternity leave – UAH 3033.33;
- for 126 days of maternity leave – 2730 UAH.
Amount of alimony
The amount of alimony is regulated by the Family Code of Ukraine. It is set depending on the subsistence minimum for a child of the appropriate age. From August 1, 2022, no changes are foreseen. Therefore, the amount of alimony will not change and will be:
- minimum recommended amount:
- for children under 6 years old – 2201 UAH;
- for children from 6 to 18 years old – 2744 UAH;
- minimum guaranteed amount (50% of the living wage):
- for children under 6 years old – 1100.50 UAH;
- for children from 6 to 18 years old – 1372 UAH;
- maximum size (10 living wages):
- for children under 6 years old – 22010 UAH;
- for children from 6 to 18 years old – 27440 UAH.
Help for single mothers
The amount of payments is set as the difference between 100% of the subsistence minimum for a child of a certain age and the average monthly total family income (per family member). From August 1, 2022, it is :
- for children under 6 years old – up to 2201 UAH;
- for children from 6 to 18 years old – 2744 UAH;
- for inpatient students (18-23 years old) – up to 2600 UAH.
Temporary unemployment benefit
There are no changes for August 2022. The last changes took place on July 1, 2022. Since then, the maximum amount of temporary unemployment benefits is not more than 10 400 UAH.
Assistance for children under guardianship or guardianship
The amount of this allowance is equal to 2.5 living wages per child of a certain age. And for children with disabilities – three living wages per child of the appropriate age. From August 1, 2022, it is :
- for children under 6 years old – UAH 5502.50;
- for children from 6 to 18 years old – 6860 UAH;
- for children under the age of 6 with disabilities – UAH 6603;
- for children from 6 to 18 years old with disabilities – 8232 UAH.
Utility bills: what changes to expect
In August 2022, tariffs for electricity, gas and water supply will remain at the level of July, as The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the bill, prohibiting the increase in the cost of these services during the war. Electricity tariffs

- for monthly consumption up to 250 kWh – UAH 1.44/kWh;
- for monthly consumption over 250 kWh – UAH 1.68/kWh.
Water tariffs
In August, tariffs for water supply and sewerage for the population will remain at the same level as before the war. This was enshrined in law in accordance with resolution government. It was decided that Naftogaz would continue to provide gas to producers at the level of UAH 7.40/m3. This price should remain unchanged until May 31, 2023.
Gas tariffs
From August 1, 2022, all users will receive services at a fixed price, which is 7.96 UAH/m3 (excluding transportation costs and VAT).
