In a short video, the 29-year-old national teammate used the names of future teammates Dočkal, Trávník, Sáček and Krejčí for puns, and you could read a laughing face looking forward to Sparta.
At the same time, this reinforcement was no longer expected at all in Letná. Back on Monday morning, it was considered a done deal Pavelka remains in the Turkish Casimpase. It wasn’t until the day that Sparta decided: Let’s try again!
Furious negotiations began, which took place in a regime of complete secrecy. Only the narrowest circle of stakeholders knew that the hope for Pavelek’s move was alive – but in order to be fulfilled, it was necessary to act quickly. In about twelve hours, Sparta needed to find common ground with the Turkish team, which they had not wanted to hear about Pavel’s departure for a long time.
Dříč, who collected 22 national team starts, was the second oldest player in the Istanbul club on business and on Sunday he jumped for four minutes into the winning derby against Galatasaray.
But for a long time he wanted to go home, to Sparta, which raised him. Behind Captain Dočkal, with whom he has a friendly relationship, and also closer to the extended family, especially in uncertain coronavirus times.
The situation was facilitated by the fact that the transfer was already in the summer, so the Spartan leadership and Pavelka were preliminarily agreed on the conditions. He was also helped by the fact that he had less than a year left from the contract in Kasimpas and would be available for free in the summer.
Sparta confirmed Pavelka’s arrival. She resolved the transfer seconds before the deadline |
But the complication was enough: the Turks escalated the demands, stopped the negotiations several times, played poker until the last minutes and screwed up the price to almost 25 million crowns.
In addition, everything was handled remotely over the phone: Sparta representatives heated the lines in Prague, the Turkish side in the office at the stadium and Pavelka on a short vacation by the sea, where he traveled during the national team break.
At the last moment, Sparta tried to catch Cheick Condé, a Guinean discovery from Zlín. She failed, but she managed to fight the Turks and brought Pavelka a few minutes before midnight. Technically for hosting with an option, but the transfer and subsequent signing of a three-year contract will only be a formality.
