How One Woman Lost 104 kg After Giving Birth: The Inspiring Weight Loss Journey of Lindsey Lonergan

Jakarta

A woman named Lindsey Lonergan shared her experience after having her second child. Without realizing it, his weight increased to 230 pounds or around 104 kg within a few months.

Lindsey knows for sure it’s not very good for her health. At that time. she was bedridden due to hyperemesis gravidarum during her second pregnancy.

Hyperemesis gravidarum is a medical condition that causes pregnant women to experience extreme nausea and vomiting. This condition can make the mother feel weak and unable to carry out activities.

“I can’t get out of bed, and I can’t eat anything healthy. All I can eat are carbohydrates and junk food, so my weight keeps increasing,” said Lindsey, quoted from Newsweek.

“Throughout my pregnancy, I was scared and thought whether this condition (her weight) would last forever?” he continued.

After her second baby was born, Lindsey still couldn’t diet because she was breastfeeding. He also couldn’t go to the gym and felt limited in his efforts to lose weight.

“But I am committed. I weigh 104 kg and I know I have to lose it. My weight cannot exceed the normal limit for me,” he said.

To overcome this, he did three things which turned out to be able to help reduce his weight.

1. Walk 10 thousand steps a day

The first thing to do every day is to walk 10,000 steps every day. He uses the help of an activity tool, Fitbit, to count his steps.

Every day, Lindsey takes a walk on the sidewalk pushing her stroller. He felt difficult because the burden he was carrying was too big.

“My back was sore, my legs were sore, and I came home after an hour of walking dripping with sweat and my face as red as a tomato,” he explained.

“I would run out of breath in the first minute, but kept doing it and kept doing it, until finally things started to get easier. And in the end, I could walk fast in no time,” he continued.

Apart from walking, Lindsey also exercises at home. He does Zumba with online exercises in his living room.

2. Counting calories

The second thing to do is count calories. After giving birth, Lindsey felt she couldn’t immediately go on an extra diet. He still wants to eat what he wants.

“I found the best thing for me was counting calories because I could still eat the foods I wanted but in a limited way. I downloaded an app to measure how many calories are needed for a breastfeeding mother,” said Lindsey.

Lindsey had time to reduce calories like an extra diet, but it didn’t work. This made her lose weight erratically.

“There are also days when I have to increase my calorie count because of an event or something, but I just exercise more instead of reducing my intake,” he said.

“It’s also important for me to eat three regular meals a day and snack. So I can’t just use up all my calories in one meal, which is another thing that makes my weight loss plummet.”

3. Weighing daily BB

Lindsey also always weighs herself daily. He also knows that many people are against his activities. Because, generally you are only allowed to weigh yourself once a week due to daily fluctuations

However, daily weigh-ins motivate him not to cheat during the diet. He felt as if he was doing his weekly weigh-in, so he could still enjoy a slice of pizza.

“I weigh myself at the same time every day, in the morning before I eat or drink anything, so it’s a true reading,” he said.

He also downloaded an application which stated that his weight was in the obesity class 2 category. Slowly, he managed to get down to obesity class 1, and finally normal.
