The calculation of the double bonus if you earn the minimum wage

The bonus is a labor benefit that must be paid to all workers at the end of the year. According to the Federal Labor Law in Mexico,
specifically in
its article 87, the bonus is equivalent to fifteen days of salary.

Payment of the benefit must be made no later than December 20 of each year, as the deadline. However, if the new law proposing the double bonus is approved, this amount would be very different.

To understand the impact that this law would have, you can consider the current minimum wage, which in 2024 is approximately 248.93 pesos per day.

According to the proposal, if the bonus is calculated based on 30 days instead of 15, workers who earn the minimum wage could receive a bonus of $7,467.9 pesos instead of $3,733.95 pesos.
