The Real Estate Tax (IBI) is one of the taxes that arouses the most passions and hatred in our country. It is the main source of tax revenue for municipalities, while it is one of the largest payments that property owners must face each year.
According to the General Council of Economists, this year the cities will collect income per inhabitant that is around 315 euros on average. However, there are great differences between the provincial capitals. A total of 15 above average, with Madrid and Castellón at the top of the ranking, while Ceuta and Melilla register the lowest amounts. In Madrid the average is up to five times higher than in the case of Ceuta.
The first three positions of the classification are occupied by Madrid, Castellón and León, whose average exceeds 400 euros. They follow closely Tarragona Y Barcelona, with an average of 398 euros. Lleida, Ciudad Real and Segovia are also above 350 euros, while Oviedo, Toledo, Santander, Soria, Girona, Cádiz and Salamanca are above the whole of the country, but below 350 euros. Huesca is the last provincial capital where the average income per inhabitant via IBI exceeds 300 euros.
In Valencia, on the other hand, the figure stands at 290 euros, while in Murcia around 277 euros. In Palma is at 273 euros, above Sevilla (262 euros), Alicante (261 euros), Zaragoza (256 euros), A coruña (256 euros), Málaga (244 euros), Saint Sebastian (229 euros), Las Palmas (224 euros) o Santa Cruz of Tenerife (188 euros).
The last five places in the ranking are held by three northern cities and the autonomous cities: in Vitoria the average income per inhabitant is situated at 182 euros, while in Pamplona it is around 151 euros and in Bilbao, 149. In Melilla, on the other hand , the figure falls to 107 euros, while Ceuta is the only provincial capital on the list with a two-digit number: in your case, the average income per inhabitant is 87 euros.
