According to MTS, smartphones with 32 GB of internal memory occupy 35% of the Russian market by the number of devices sold. The second most popular volume is 64 GB – it has 21% of the market. For very small volumes, the indicators are also high. Gadgets with 16 GB of memory occupy 16.3% of the market, for 8 GB – 14.4%.

“It’s cheaper,” retailer representatives explain. – In addition, cloud services are common in which you can store photos and videos. There is streaming that allows you not to store content on your smartphone and watch everything online. ”

The larger the amount of memory, the less demand for the device. Smartphones with 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB of memory in total occupied only 2.1% of the Russian market in terms of the number of gadgets sold last year.

At the same time, devices on 128 GB is gradually becoming more popular. Over the past year, their market share increased from 2.7% to 11.3%. In MTS, this is associated with a decrease in the average price of such devices. In 2019, it fell almost twice, from 48 thousand rubles to 28 thousand.
