Do you want to know how much gold used today is worth? Are you thinking of taking advantage of the favorable contingency to sell your gold objects and valuables? In fact, the moment seems to be really important for the value of this precious metal. Unfortunately, the reasons for this are not happy: the Russian-Ukrainian war, the difficulties in supplying energy sources and some raw materials, the scenarios that place an uncertain future before the eyes of many people, are pushing investments on this historic safe haven.
A phenomenon that is causing the price of gold to rise: the demand for a not particularly widespread good increases, and consequently increases its value according to the law of supply and demand. In this article we go to see the value of gold updated to the last few hours and what you need to know before selling your used gold.
How much is the gold used today worth?
The gold used is maintaining a very high value, even if it is slightly lower than in the recent past. In fact, during 2022, almost 60 euros per gram were reached, a value that marked a real recent record. However, the decline in recent weeks is slow, not sudden, and does not suggest further significant drops.
If you want to sell your gold, therefore, you must take into account that today you will take something less than in the recent past. The other parameter is determined by the carat of your object: pure gold is 24 carat, while most jewelry is 18 carat. 14 or 9 carat objects close the picture.
The current value of 24 karat gold is 53.78 Euros per gram. The evaluation framework for used gold is completed with the following values: 18 k gold is worth 40.27 euros / gram, 14 k gold has reached the value of 31.39 euros / gram, while 9k currently travels on 17.82 euros per gram.
Used gold value: sell now?
In one of our latest publications on the value of gold used, this has dropped a little further. Only a few days ago gold was at 55 Euros per gram and the apparently unstoppable growth of the past few months has stopped and, indeed, the curve is downhill.
However, the fact remains that gold has appreciated by more than 500% in the last 20 years and by about 70% in the last two. If you have decided to turn to a “gold buyer” to get a sum from your used gold object, there are some things to watch out for before leaving home.
Carry out an artisanal weighing with the kitchen scale of your object: the weight that will be reported to you by the Compro Oro must not differ too much. Keep in mind the carat weight of your object and its current valuation. Be wary of quotes that are excessively distant both upwards and downwards, compared to those you can find online. Prefer a Compro Oro registered with the OAM, a mandatory national register from which, unfortunately, there are still more than 600 Operators missing today.
