How much space and how much money do we need to create a place to live? According to the architect Vojtěch Valda, who has been designing so-called tiny houses for several years, 15 square meters and 505 thousand crowns are enough. This is exactly the parameters of his latest project.

Architect Vojtěch Valda has been designing “small houses” for several years. Shipping Container House Gaia – that’s what his latest project is called – is an experiment of a self-sufficient house.
Already two years ago, Valda came up with a project for a mobile wooden building, in 2016 he came up with a project for a house, the construction of which cost 30,000 crowns, and three people managed to build it in three hours. “I try to look at the issue of the minidom phenomenon from a global perspective. That’s why it’s a platform Pinuphouses.com, which I dedicate most of my work potential to, in English and thus has a global reach, ”says Valda.
Demand for projects really comes from all over the world, most often from the USA and Canada. And most customers build cottages designed by him as recreational facilities or seasonal housing. However, according to Valda, mini-houses can also be a solution for permanent housing.
According to him, the current situation will probably change people’s approach to mini-houses. “During the lockdown, the Czechs went to the cottages and realized a little that in the future it may not only be recreational facilities, but also temporary housing, which will come in handy in various unexpected disasters,” he adds, adding that even at the end of World War II During the war, many Praguers and people from large cities retreated to the countryside to safety with their relatives.
“From this it can be concluded that there could be a slightly higher interest in such objects in the field of real estate. In any case, the pandemic is causing an increase in poverty and social nervousness worldwide, which will also have a huge impact on housing. It will definitely mean an increase in interest in self-help building, “he concludes.
