NEW YORK – Starting Sunday, drivers crossing certain bridges and tunnels in New York will find an increase in the price of tolls after the MTA announced the strategy as a measure to generate millions in annual revenue.
Crossings where drivers will find toll changes include the bridge RFK, the bridge Bronx-Whitestone, the bridge Throgs Neck, the bridge Verrazzano-Narrows, the bridge Henry Hudson, the bridge Cross Bay, the bridge Marine Parkway, the tunnel Queens Midtown and the tunnel Hugh L. For most intersections, the drivers of E-ZPass they will see a 43 cent surcharge on tolls, which will increase from $ 6.12 to $ 6.55.
Meanwhile, drivers who choose to pay by mail will see a toll increase from $ 9.50 to $ 10.17 at those same intersections.
However, the post-refund toll for the bridge Verrazzano-Narrows it will still be $ 2.75 one way, the MTA announced.
The new toll rates begin on Sunday, April 11.
A new mid-level toll will also be introduced for E-ZPass drivers. This toll rate is priced between the E-ZPass and the rate and what drivers pay by mail, and is for drivers who do not have their tag properly mounted.
