A Hong Kong mother and daughter suffered from severe gastroesophageal reflux. They recently flew to Taiwan and sought help from Dr. Wu Wenjie, director of the Gastroesophageal Reflux Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Yuanrong Hospital in Changhua County, hoping to undergo gastroscopic anti-reflux surgery. After diagnosis, the doctor found that the patient had pseudogastroesophageal reflux. After being referred to the Department of Psychosomatics, he was diagnosed with severe depression. After taking medication, the patient’s condition improved and he finally got rid of the pain that had plagued him for many years.

It is understood that this Hong Kong mother and daughter, the mother is about 70 years old, and the daughter is about 30 or 40 years old. As soon as they arrived in Taiwan, they went straight to Yuanrong Hospital and asked Wu Wenjie to perform “thermal radiofrequency gastric cardia tightening surgery” on her. My mother said that she has been troubled by gastroesophageal reflux for many years. She feels gastric juice rushing upwards as soon as she lies down, accompanied by chest tightness, ear pain, headache and other symptoms. She has been seeking medical treatment in Hong Kong for many years but has not been able to improve. She has read Dr. Wu’s online videos and articles. According to the introduction, he and his daughter flew to Taiwan specially for the surgery.

Wu Wenjie determined that the patient’s condition was “false reflux” and was caused by other factors. The mother and daughter were dubious, so he first performed a 96-hour wireless acid-base capsule test for them, and placed the capsule monitor inside the esophagus to monitor. As long as the acid reflux occurs, As the flow passes through the capsule, it is recorded, and the patient can still exercise, eat delicious food, run, etc. After 96 hours of recording, the capsule was excreted with the feces, and the results proved that no acid reflux was recorded.

The Hong Kong mother and daughter still had doubts, so they underwent a 24-hour acid-base catheter test. As a result, the patient still had no esophageal reflux. Seeing that the patient insisted on having surgery, the doctor decisively refused, speculating that it was caused by psychological factors, and recommended that he be transferred to the psychosomatic department for treatment. The patient’s condition improved after taking the medicine. After returning to Hong Kong, he continued to receive treatment at the psychosomatic department and finally got rid of the pain that had plagued him for many years.

Wu Wenjie emphasized that there are many causes of gastroesophageal reflux, including too loose the cardiac opening connecting the esophagus and the stomach, too much pressure in the stomach, flatulence, and too sensitive esophagus; in addition, there are worries, anxiety, panic, autonomic nervous system disorders, and chest tightness. Menopausal women and patients with esophageal lesions who experience symptoms such as facial flushing, headache, insomnia, etc. may experience pseudoreflux.
