The Ministry of Health offered a press conference this Thursday in which they reported on the data extracted from the second wave of the seroprevalence study carried out together with the Carlos III Health Institute. It details that 5.2% of the Spanish population has suffered from the coronavirus. A national average that is above the Community. The rate of seroprevalence to coronavirus in the Valencian Community, that is, the population with antibodies in this region, has hardly grown in the second wave of the national macro-study: from 2.4% in the first survey to 2.7% in the last , with a total of 4,538 people compared to 4,292. The ENE-Covid-19 macro-study carried out between May 18 and June 1 reveals that the seroprevalence rate reaches 3.8% in the province of Castellón, 3.3% in Alicante and just 2, 1% in Valencia.
The coronavirus seroprevalence rate nationwide
Four provinces of the center of the peninsula, Madrid, Segovia, Guadalajara and Albacete, double the national seroprevalence rate, which is 5.2%, and Soria and Cuenca triple it, while others, such as Huelva, Asturias and Tarragona, do not reach 2% of the population with antibodies. These are the great territorial differences produced by the second wave of this macro-study, which confirms the first results and which revealed that the central provinces have been the most affected by the epidemic. As it moves away from the central nucleus, the population that has antibodies against the coronavirus decreases, so that the rest of Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha present percentages of between 5% and 10%, a situation in which Barcelona, Navarra, Teruel and Álava are also found. Girona, Lleida, Zaragoza, Huesca, Alicante, Cáceres, Malaga, Granada, Jaén, Castellón, Alicante are between 3% and 5%, while the rest does not reach 3%.
But it is Soria that once again has a higher proportion of the population with antibodies, specifically 14.7%, followed by Albacete (14.2%), Segovia (12.6%), Albacete (11.6%) and Madrid (11.4%).
The data by autonomous communities are the following:
