“Today, the population of Kazakhstan is 19,808,430 people. Of these, 70.6% are Kazakhs, the share of the Russian population is 15.1%, Uzbeks – 3.2%, Ukrainians – 1.9%, Uighurs – 1.5%, Germans – 1.1%, Tatars – 1, 1%, Azerbaijanis – 0.7%, Koreans – 0.6% and other nationalities,” the report said on Sunday.
It is noted that the largest number of Kazakhs live in the Turkestan region – 1.5 million, most Russians of their total number live in Almaty – 428 thousand, Uzbeks in the Turkestan region – 378 thousand people, Ukrainians in the Kostanay region – 86 thousand, out of 297 thousand Uighurs, the majority live in the Almaty region – 120 thousand people.
“In our country there are still representatives of such ethnic groups as the Gagauz, Lezgins, Kumyks, Avars, in total in Kazakhstan, under a single shanyrak, representatives of 124 nationalities live,” the message summarizes.
